JOB SUMMARY

Battelle is seeking a Junior Pavement Materials Technician to assist operating and working within a pavement research testing laboratory.

This individual will support the FAA’s NextGen Pavement Materials Lab located within the FAA's Airport Technology Research and Development (ATRD) Branch located at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center (WJHTC) in Atlantic City, N.J. 

The ATRD Branch conducts research and development for enhancing the safety, capacity, and efficiency of airports located throughout the nation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Participate in the daily operation and maintenance of the facility, sampling and collection of construction materials, and testing of construction materials
  • THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED
  • This candidate shall have a 2 years Associates degree in an engineering field from an accredited college or a minimum of 6 years of experience in civil engineering materials testing and with technician certifications from industry recognized agencies in one or more of soils, asphalt or concrete. 
  • This candidate shall also have two (2) years or more experience in the use of servo-hydraulic materials testing equipment, and have advanced technician certification in concrete, soils or asphalt.
  • All technician certifications shall be from programs that require both a written test, and a performance examination to demonstrate ability to perform all tests required. Must possess knowledge of laboratory certification protocols.
