NOTE: this position can be fulfilled via telework from any location across the U.S. with the understanding that periodic travel to our corporate headquarters in Rockville, MD may be required (post pandemic).

In this position, you will:

  • Serve as the technical expert for all Linux-related outages, failures, and problems with the Dataprise Network Operations Center (NOC) which supports customers ranging from small customers (10 users) to multi-national enterprises.
  • Build a strong understanding of customer Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) and strive to meet or exceed them on a regular basis.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior resources on the team as it relates to technical decision making and ticket resolution.
  • Take ownership of each customer isue by digging into it and keeping the best interest of their business at the forefront of your troubleshooting process.
  • Participate in Incident Management by providing situational reports (sitreps) via ticket updates and/or customer-facing communications.
  • Perform both proactive and reactive Incident Response as a result of system or service anomalies.
  • Provide top-notch technical support for any issues that require Linux subject matter expertise.
  • Monitor and work with various systems management tools.
  • Identify and drive opportunities to automate repeatable tasks.
  • Think outside of the box in being able to identify the root cause of issues in unfamiliar technical environments and technologies.
  • Remain committed to professional growth and development by maintaining and/or obtaining new industry specific certifications.
  • Participate in after-hours on call rotations.
  • Our ideal candidate has:

  • Several years of related experience in a similar role, ideally in the Managed Services industry.
  • RHCSA, RHCE, Linux+, LPIC, LFCS, LFCE, or other Linux certifications.
  • Strong proficiency and hands-on experience with the following:Common Linux distributions such as Red Hat, CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu, and SuSEVirtualization technologies such as Hyper-V and ESXiScripting and automating common administrative tasks with BashDiagnosing and troubleshooting system issues, identifying root cause and remediating reported issuesProficiency with designing, configuring, deploying, and administering LAMP and LEMP systemsExperience in mixed Linux and Windows environments that include setting up and administration of Active Directory integration and file sharing via SambaSendmail, Postfix, P2V migrations, AWS and Azure Cloud Platforms as well as with heterogeneous LAN technologiesGlobal File System (GFS)System reporting and monitoring utilities such as Nagios and PRTGVirtualization experience with KVM and DockerGit and other version control systemsExperience working in IT enterprises that use industry frameworks such as ITIL, COBIT, or MOF
