The Department of Health Administration is seeking a colleague to collaborate in teaching, service, and scholarship in the Department. The position entails significant teaching responsibilities in the MHA and MSHA programs; subjects may include health systems organization and management, group practice management, financial management, human resources management, strategy, marketing, clinical concepts, ambulatory management, or post-acute care management. Additionally, this position may, upon hire or at a later date, assume responsibility for program management of the MSHA program. Service activities include representing the Department in national professional organizations, such as AUPHA, ACHE, NAHSE, NCHL, and committee service at the Department, College, and University levels. This position also involves key advising duties, which may include supporting students in securing internship and/or residency placements, connecting students with to the Alumni network, providing mentoring during the Administrative residency, and career coaching.
The faculty employee classification of this position will be a 12 month full time appointment if it is determined that teaching and research along with MSHA program management duties will be assigned.
The faculty employee classification of this position will be a 9/10 month full time appointment if it is determined that only teaching and research responsibilities with no MSHA program management duties will be assigned.Position Responsibilities
The faculty member has teaching responsibilities Department’s masters programs. Areas may include health systems organization and management, group practice management, financial management, human resources management, strategy, marketing, clinical concepts, ambulatory management, or post-acute care management. Additionally, this position may, upon hire or at a later date, assume responsibility for program management of the MSHA program.
The faculty member will serve internally on Departmental, College, and/or University committees as assigned. The faculty member will represent the Department to selected professional organizations, as well as in a professional capacity in their field, e.g., reviewer, conference organizer.
The faculty member will share in promoting the scholarship and research of the department’s faculty and students.

Career advising, case competition coaching
- Master’s of Health Administration or equivalent
- Five or more years of experience as a leader/administrator in a healthcare setting
- Track record of interdisciplinary collaboration
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCUPreferred Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience as an executive leader in a healthcare organization
- Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level
- Residential and on-line teaching experience
